Harrison Ford (July 13, 1942-) is a film actor and producer best known for his role as Han Solo in the Star Wars movie trilogy and as the title character in the Indiana Jones franchise. Ford supplemented his early television appearances in the late 1960s and early 1970s by working as a carpenter – with one of his clients being director George Lucas. Lucas cast Ford in a supporting role in American Graffiti (1973), and would go on to offer him a starring role in Star Wars (1977) as well as its sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). His status as a leading actor was secured when he signed on as Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), and its three sequels. His other notable appearances include those in Blade Runner (1982), Presumed Innocent (1990), Patriot Games (1992), The Fugitive (1993), Clear and Present Danger (1994), Air Force One (1997). Ford also holds the distinction of once having starred in four of the top six box-office hits of all time. As an “A-List” celebrity, Ford has a large fan following and regularly is the focus of autograph collectors.
